MY STORY
Hi, I'm Lisa!

I've been sewing, crafting, painting... and just creating for as long as I can remember.
I first began my crafting journey at a very young age when my paternal grandmother taught me how to crewel embroidery and crochet. I was fascinated as I sat next to her watching her finger fly, creating beautiful designs and usable items for those she loved.

In my early teen years, my mother taught me how to sew on an old Singer sewing machine, and in her words, I surpassed her expertise as I made all my own formal gowns, which often included boning, invisible zips, stays, etc.

As a young mother on a tight budget, I sewed many of my children's clothing from repurposed clothing I had purchased from second-hand stores. It felt good knowing I was caring for my family as well as putting to use some adorable fabrics that may otherwise be wasted. Sewing was a hobby and I also did repair work for a few people. When the kids were young I also began painting. I was open to painting anything - wood, walls, canvas, antiques, murals, etc, you name it. Watercolor, pastels, oils, and acrylics were always nearby. I loved painting on usable items because not only did you have an item that was purposeful, but also beautiful.

For the past few years, I've been exploring quilting, machine embroidery, bag making - often blending the modalities together to make unique items. Rekindling my love of painting, I now "paint" digitally, creating print on demand items from my original art as well as use my original hand-painted patterns to create the fabric I use in my shop items. I love all steps of the creative process and look forward (sometimes 10 projects ahead, it seems) to creating new patterns with stylish embellishments, fabrics, and designs.
In Lisa Claire Designs, you'll find my hand-made items as well as print on demand items crafted from my own art. Once in a while you may see AI art, but it's ALWAYS embellished or altered by adding in my own artwork.
